Abstract

1,127,424. Coating with metals. E.I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. July 15, 1966 [July 16, 1965], No.31933/66. Heading C7F. In a process for diffusion coating a metal article by immersing in a molten bath having a metal diffusion element, e.g. Cr, Co, Ni, and Al, and a transfer agent which is one of Ca, Sr, Ba, Mg, and Li, the article is quenched in a bath containing liquid sodium at a temperature below 350‹C. The quenching bath may also contain K, Cs or Rb. The coating and quenching may take place in an inert atmosphere e.g. argon, helium, hydrogen, and argon-nitrogen.
