Abstract

1,127,034. Cyclone separators. OREGON METALLURGICAL CORP. 10 Aug.. 1966 [20 Oot., 1965], No. 35720,/66. Heading B2P. [Also in Division C7] In a process for the production and purification of titanium (see Division C7), hot argon containing suspended Me and MgCl 2 is passed firstly to a cyclone cooler 80, Fig. 4 provided with a water-jacket 80d and cooling line 80c and then to three cyclone filters arranged in series. Each filter, Fig. 5 incorporates a leaf-type filter 74c. A bleed of cool argon from the exit from the last filter is recirculated to mix with the hot argon passing into the cooler to provide the initial cooling.
