Abstract

1,127,008. Yarn heaters. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. 14 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 44805/65. Heading D1F. A yarn heater has a contact heater plate comprising a metallic backing plate of good thermal conductivity, a surface coating of chromium, and at least one intermediate layer of non-porous material not liable to attack by the fatty acid content of spin finish. The backing plate may be of copper. The intermediate layer, which may be a nickel phosphorus alloy. and the chromium layer may be electrolytically deposited. The plate may be curved in the direction of yarn travel, have yarn guiding grooves, and be mounted in an electric resistance heater in a false-twist crimping machine.
