Decorative sheets of plastics material for exterior cladding and wall and ceiling panelling are provided with a regular arrangement of grooves so formed that at each crossing point of the grooves at least one of four grooves at the crossing point is shallower than the remaining grooves at the same crossing point. The grooves may form a network of rectangles on the sheet surface with deep and shallow grooves alternating regularly in the longitudinal and transverse directions e.g. a deep groove extending over three rectangular units followed by a shallow groove extending over one rectangular unit. The depth of the grooves may vary over each rectangular unit so that at each crossing point a shallow groove crosses a deep groove. Materials for the sheets may be glass-fibre reinforced polyester resins, other thermosetting plastics, thermoplastic materials such as polymethacrylates, rigid polyvinyl chloride free from plasticizer, and preferably modified by the addition of chlorinated polyolefines. The sheets may be in the form of endless strips. The sheets may be fixed with a fixing means, e.g. a screw disposed at the lowest part of the grooves. When neighbouring sheets overlap, the edge of the upper sheet may lie in a groove of the underneath sheet. In Figs. 1, 1a, 1b (not shown), the underside of a sheet is provided with longitudinal grooves 1 and transverse grooves 2 on sheet surface 3. The depth of grooves 1 and 2 increases and decreases alternately from crossing point to crossing point as shown at 1a, 1b 2a, 2b. At each meeting point of four grooves two deep grooves extending in one direction meet at right angles two shallow grooves extending in the other direction. Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), illustrate similar groove arrangements to that shown in Fig. 1, with wider grooves.
