Abstract

112,425. Bessemer Gas Engine Co., (Assignees of Shepherd, H. F.). Nov. 25, 1916, [Convention date]. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - A hot plate 7 on which the jet of liquid fuel impinges is kept at the ignition temperature of the fuel by making it the base of a vessel 8 which contains a liquid such as sulphur or mercury that boils at the desired ignition temperature. The vapour may be condensed against the water-cooled crown 12 of the vessel or conveyed away through the pipe 15 to be condensed. The temperature may be varied by introducing a gas at different pressures through the pipe 15.
