Abstract
A method of making metal powder (zinc) which comprises ejecting a stream of molten metal through a nozzle 6 and atomising the stream of metal by means of a stream of gas e.g. air the stream of gas being supplied from a first annular chamber 12A leading radially inwards to a second annular chamber 12B, both chambers surrounding the nozzle, whence the gas flows forwardly out <PICT:1123825/C6-C7/1> of the second chamber into a space defined by an end cap 13 is fron of said second chamber, whereby the gas is caused to converge on and flow over the tip of the nozzle at an angle of convergence of between 100 degrees and 130 degrees and a pressure of not more than 1.5 kilograms per square centimetre, to emerge with the metal through an opeing in the cap 13 in front of the nozzle. The molten zinc is supplied from a cylindrical carbon crucible 1.
