Abstract

In a generator of combustion products for food preservation, the effluent from a catalytic combustion apparatus 11 is passed through heat exchangers 21, 22 before being stored, and part of the gases are recirculated to mix with the fuel/air mixture before the generator 11. The recirculated stream may be taken from the output of the first heat exchanger 21, or may be taken from the output of the second heat exchanger and reheated in the first heat exchanger before joining the feed to the generator (Fig. 2, not shown).
