Abstract
1,123,498. Combined radio receiving and transmitting systems. G. & E. BRADLEY Ltd. 20 July, 1967 [20 July, 1966], No. 32638/66. Heading H4L. A V.H.F. transmitter-receiver is provided with an adaptor whereby it can be operated in a U.H.F. band. As described a transmitterreceiver normally transmits at 150 Mc/s and receives at 155 Mc/s and by removing the aerial rod from its socket and replacing it via plug 13 with the device shown in Fig. 2, it is converted to transmit at 450 Mc/s and receive at 455 Mc/s. When transmitting, R.F. oscillations from the V.H.F. transmitter are supplied via coupling loop 14 to a frequency-trebler 15 using a varactor diode or step diode in known manner. Signals received at the aerial 17 are supplied to a frequency-changer 16 co-operating with a local oscillator 18, the 155 Mc/s difference frequency being selected for application via the plug 13 to the receiver. The frequencychanger is powered by a battery 19 which may be charged by rectifying at 21 a portion of the transmitted R/F, or the standing current of a varactor diode used in the frequency-multiplier may be utilized.
