Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1122249/C2/1> wherein R1 is a C1-C4 alkyl group; R2 is a C1-C4 alkyl group or an aralkyl group containing not more than ten carbon atoms; R1 and R2 may form a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring; Q is an alkylene or hydroxyalkylene radical containing at least two carbon atoms; R3 and R4 are alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups and may form a heterocyclic ring with the nitrogen atom; R5 is an alkyl or aralkyl group; X is H, halogen, alkyl or alkoxy; and Y1 and Y2 are each acid anions. In an example, 2-chloro-5-nitrophenol is reacted with ethylene bromide to give 2-chloro-5-nitrophenol-b -bromoethyl ether which is reacted successively with diethylamine and pyrrolidine to give 5-nitro-2-pyrrolidinophenyl - b - diethylaminoethyl ether, subsequently quaternizing the pyrrolidone nitrogen atom with ethyl iodide. The nitro group is then reduced, diazotized and finally reacted with zinc chloride. A number of further final products are specified by formulae
