Abstract
1,121,769. Food packages. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 14 Sept., 1966 [16 Sept., 1965], No. 41154/66. Heading B8C. A biaxially stretched film of an amorphous polyamide produced by the condensation of terephthalic acid or a methyl ester thereof with a hexamethylene diamine is heat shrunk about a foodstuff such as cheese. The mono- or di-methyl ester of terephthalic acid may be used and the hexamethylene diamine may be 2,2,4- and/or 2,4,4-trimethyl hexamethylene diamine. It is stated that the amorphous polyamide film has good weldability, high resistivity to fat, good aroma sealing properties and does not influence the taste of the foodstuff. In the embodiment described, a tubular sheath of the film may be sealed, to enclose the foodstuff, by welding it in vacuum, after which the film is heat shrunk at about 170-190‹ C. Specifications 1,102,851 and 1,102,852 disclose the method of manufacture of the film.
