Abstract
1,121,760. Pulse frequency modulation. SIEMENS A.G. 6 Sept., 1966 [10 Sept., 1965], No. 39876/66. Addition to 1,053,513. Heading H4L. A voltage-controlled oscillator of the type in which the input voltage U e is integrated by amplifier V and capacitor C i until a threshold level is reached when a detector D provides an output pulse at A which is fed back to reset the capacitor C i , is characterized in that the output at A is converted in unit FSU to a voltage proportional to frequency which voltage is used to control the feedback to capacitor C i . In Fig. 1 there are two feedback units K o and R 1 , K 0 providing a constant feedback charge and K 1 a feedback charge dependent on output frequency since its power supply is derived from the frequency discriminator FSU; the latter comprises an amplifier T 3 feeding a rectifier D 2 and integrator C 2 with R 2 and R 3 . A modified circuit, Fig. 2 (not shown), includes a single feedback unit K 3 fed from a constant power supply and including magnetically controlled resistors (RX and RY) situated in a magnetic field controlled by the output of the discriminator FSU. The response of the circuits is non-linear and may be such as to compensate for non-linearity of an input transducer, e.g. a thermocouple.
