A hinge device for a door comprises a door mounting 2 having two "L" shaped brackets with two corresponding limbs 11<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>1</SP> which are horizontal and spaced back to back and a wall bracket 1 having an offset arm 17 which is pivotally secured between the horizontal limbs by a fulcrum pin 10, thereby enabling pivotal movement of the door through 100‹. The limbs 11<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>1</SP> and arm 17 are housed within a slot in the door.
