Abstract

1,121,238. Grinding. METABOWERKE CLOSS, RAUCH & SCHNIZLER K.G. 14 April, 1967 [27 April, 1966], No. 17138/67. Heading B3D. In belt-tensioning apparatus for a belt-type grinding machine having an endless belt which runs over a contact which comprises tensioning roller 9 carried on the arm 6 of a lever 4 which is rotatably mounted on a joint 2 connected with a carrier rod 1, the lever being loaded by a tension spring 12 fastened to an anchorage on the rod, variations of the effective lever lengths and of the spring force, maintaining the tension of the belt at least approximately constant at different positions of the roller. The anchorage on the rod consists of a sleeve 14 adjustably mounted on the rod 1. A draw rod 17 is articulated to the sleeve and has notches 18 engageable by a bolt 20 on a lever 19 to adjust the tension of the spring. A rod 25 between the arm 6 and lever 19 effects raising and lowering of the roller 9 upon movement of the lever to tension the belt or permit its removal from the apparatus. The arms 6, 10 of the lever 4 are at an obtuse angle while the angle between the axis of the spring and arm 10 is acute.
