Abstract
1,120,919. Root-crop harvesters. A. UNDERHAUG [trading at F. A. UNDERHAUG FABRIK], 19 April, 1967 [22 Nov., 1966], No. 17978/67. Heading A1F. A potato-harvester, having two side-byside endless conveying belts 3, 8, running in opposite directions, transverse to the direction of travel of the machine, the material being transferred from the front belt 3 to the rear belt by a barrier 4 arranged obliquely above one end of the front belt, is characterized in that a conveying device 7 is mounted above the adjacent end of the rear belt and is driven in the opposite direction to that end of the belt so as to remove weeds and haulms from the rear belt. The machine described is generally similar to that described in Specification 981,110 and comprises a frame attached to tractor lift-links and supported on two non-aligned ground-wheels. Crop dug by a share 1 is thrown by a spinner 2 on to the lower end of the front conveyer 3 and is transferred by the oblique barrier 4 at the upper end, to fall on to the lower end of the rear conveyer 8 where it is sorted by operators standing on a platform 9. The conveying device 7 comprises a roller mounted on an extension of the upper spindle 6 of the front conveyer-belt, the roller having a ribbed rubber surface. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the roller 7 is replaced by a short belt conveyer having a similar ribbed surface.
