Abstract

1,120,517. Interior rear-view mirrors. WINGARD Ltd. 5 July, 1967 [19 July, 1966], No. 32371/66. Heading B7J. A vehicle anti-dazzle rear view mirror comprises a plastics case 10 connected by a ball-andsocket joint 25, 26 with a supporting arm 27, there being mounted in the front of the case a clear glass or plastics first reflecting member 11, and mounted within the case a flexible film of transparent plastics 14 coated on one face with a reflective layer and clipped around its peripheral portion by a band 17 to a base 15 from which its centre portion is spaced. The film 14 forms a second reflecting member and can be pivoted about rib 18 between an operative position shown in full lines and an inoperative position shown in broken lines. A wire spring 24 holds the base 15 in either of these positions. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, both the reflecting members 31, 35 are formed by coating a film of plastics and they are mounted at a spiral to each other on a base 32. The case 38 is mounted on a ball 42 and pivots about a pin 44. Rotation of a cammed spindle causes one or other of the members 31, 35 to be operative by pivoting the case about pin 44, the members being of different reflective power.
