Abstract
1,119,281. Conveyer screw for feeding furnace. HODGKINSON BENNIS Ltd. 1 April, 1966 [1 April, 1965; 11 May, 1965], Nos. 13788/65 and 19744/65. Heading B8A. Fuel from hopper 4 is discharged through openings 26, 28, 30 into the casing 8 of screw 2 driven by motor 20 which screw discharges the fuel via chamber 16 to screw 36 which feeds rightwards to a furnace. Casing 8 is rotatable in its bearings to vary the position of the said openings, e.g. by pawl-and-ratchet 44, 42 operated by handle 46. Chamber 16 may be formed integrally with a bellows (not shown) to permit the angular inclination of screw 2 to be varied. Casing 8 may have a part thereof of reduced diameter so as to accommodate a part of the screw of smaller pitch. The openings may be replaced by a single helical opening.
