Abstract

1,118,713. Pads; self-feeding pads. GENERAL FOODS CORP. 24 Sept., 1965, No. 40863/65. Headings A4F and A4K. A cleansing pad comprises outer layers 6, 7 of abrasive web material composed of randomly oriented non-woven fibres bound together by adhesive, and an inner layer 8 of thermoplastic foam material heat sealed to the outer layers either over the whole of its area or around its periphery only. A solid or semi-solid mass 15 of soap or detergent is interposed between the inner layer 8 and one of the outer layers. A process for making the pad, by assembling the component layers, heat sealing and cutting is described. The foam layer 8 serves as a reservoir for soap or detergent solution.
