Abstract

1,118,544. Cutting appliances. J. STEAD & CO. Ltd. 12 June, 1967 [8 July, 1966], No. 30680/66. Heading B4B. In a sliding-blade knife tool consisting of a two-part handle between the parts of which a wafer blade is slidable between a position of complete retraction within the handle and edgeexposed positions of varying degrees of protrusion beyond a slot formed between the parts at one end of the handle, a guide slot 15 is provided through one handle part 3 and a registering guide groove 14 along the inner face of the other handle part 2, the blade 4 being secured in any selected position by means of a screw 16 passing through the slot 15 and through a hole in the blade and a nut 17 non-rotatably guided in the groove 14. The blade may be gripped by an inwardly extending rim around the inner face of the slot 15. Ribs 9, 10 may be provided on the two parts 2, 3 to extend round the whole periphery of each part except for the slotted end of the handle. The tool has a storage part to contain spare blades on a peg 7. The two handle parts are secured together by a single screw.
