Abstract
Micro-azo dyes of formula <FORM:1118295/C4-C5/1> in which R is an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group, R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl (including cyclohexyl) group or a phenyl group which may be substituted, R2 is an unsubstituted or substituted phenylene group, R3 is a straight or branched chain alkylene group and Y is a chain of 2 or 3 atoms consisting of at least one atom selected from nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur atoms and any atoms other than those in the chain being carbon are prepared by coupling a diazotized aniline derivative with a coupling component of formula <FORM:1118295/C4-C5/2> In particular Y represents the atoms necessary to form a 5,6-dihydrouracil hydantoin, 2,6-piperazinedione, 3,5-morpholinedione or a 2,4-thiozolidinedione group. The dyes give a full range of shades on synthetic materials.
