Abstract
Novel compounds of the general formula <FORM:1118025/C2/1> in which R1 represents a straight chain or branched chain alkyl radical or an alkoxy alkyl radical, R11 and R111 each represent hydrogen atoms or methyl or ethyl radicals and Alk represents an alkyl radical (a) with at least four carbon atoms when R11 and R111 represent hydrogen or (b) with at least two carbon atoms when R11 and/or R111 represent an alkyl radical, are prepared either by esterification of the free acid or transesterification of an appropriate ester or by reaction of an appropriate triiodophenol with a reactive ester of an alpha-hydroxy fatty acid in the presence of a basic condensing agent. a -Bromocaproic acid-b -methoxyethyl ester and a -bromocaproic acid isopropyl ester are prepared by esterification of the corresponding acids.
