Abstract
1,118,014. Hydraulic springs. ZENTRALE ENTWICKLUNG UND KONSTRUKTION ZEK HYDRAULIK, VEB. 6 May, 1966, No. 20169/68. Heading F2S. Temperature compensation means for a plunger, not shown, and cylinder 1 type of hydraulic spring with an initial loading comprises an additional plunger 5 with a head 5a which is urged by a mechanical spring 9 in the spring compression direction and which has a rod which is movable, through seals, into and out of the cylinder according to the reduction or increase in pressure exerted by the hydraulic liquid due to decreases or increases in its working temperature. After a certain reduction of temperature of the liquid a stop 10 on the outer end of the piston rod 5 entrains a further plunger rod 3 which has a head 3a, both of the plungers then moving inwardly together under the action of the spring 9. This dual-plunger arrangement avoids the necessity of providing a large mechanical spring 9. The plunger head 5a provides two fluid chambers 6, 7 which communicate with each other through an annular throttle passage 8 between the head 5a and the cylinder 1, the throttle passage 8 protecting the spring 9 against dynamic shocks. The plunger rod 3 passes through seals in an end cap and a guide bush 2, the spring 9 bearing at its upper end against a stop surface 4.
