1,116,864. Laminates. PERMANITE Ltd. 25 Aug., 1965 [4 Sept., 1964], No. 36363/64. Heading B5N. A sheet or strip material for use in marking road or other like surfaces comprises a base sheet or strip of flexible material bearing on one side a film or layer of a stabilised adhesive bitumen capable of adhesion to the road or like surface cold or at normal atmospheric temperatures, said film or layer being covered by a sheet or strip of release material preventing contact of the film or layer of bitumen with adjacent layers of the sheet or strip material when rolled and capable of being peeled from the sheet or strip material when the latter is to be used. As described the base sheet is fibre base felt, or asbestos base felt, or glass fibre tissue coated, or impregnated and coated, on one or both sides with a coating material or the base sheet is plasticized P.V.C. The bitumen film or layer is stabilized by the addition of fibrous material e.g. animal hair, vegetable fibre, asbestos fibre, and the release sheet is silicone treated or siliconized sheet or paper. The sheet or strip material may have on the face opposite to the release sheet a white or yellow thermoplastic surface coating or a further sheet material bonded thereto. The surface of the sheet which is uppermost in use may have a granular material such as calcined flint and optionally transparent glass spheres applied thereto.
