Abstract

1,115,936. Clamping printing plates to plate cylinders. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. 8 Nov., 1965, No. 47322/65. Heading B6C. A saddle plate assembly for mounting a flexible printing plate 1 on a plate cylinder 2 comprises a curved plate member 3 having an outer surface for receiving the plate 1 and an underside which is shaped to seat on the peripheral surface of the plate cylinder and is recessed to receive retaining hooks 4 projecting radially therefrom. Spring-loaded retaining elements 6 are located at one end of the member 3 and are carried at the ends of rods 9 longitudinally displaceable in grooves formed in the member 3 in such a manner that, with the plate 1 located on the member 3 and having an end edge attached to the elements 6, the elements are biased from the curved member 3 under the loading of their springs 13, 14 to ensure that the plate 1 is firmly retained on the curved member. A similar arrangement of elements, springs and rods may be provided at the other end of the plate 1 or the arrangement shown may be adopted wherein the edge of the plate 1 opposite from the elements 6 is curved about the edge of the member 3 and held thereon by pins 18.
