In a tilting slat blind comprising tiltable slats supported by tapes 3 one at each slat end and a mounting pin 4 thereat, to pivotally couple each slat to the tapes 3, there is sound damping means on the slats and/or associated with the tapes 3. Each tape 3 is within a channel-section rail 6 and buffer elements are between the rails 6 and the tapes 3. These elements may each consist of two hemispherical units, one on each side of the tape 3, one or both units of each pair having portions to extend through holes in the tape 3 and the other or both units having holes for seating the said portions. Each rail 6 has two opposed walls parallel to the tape 3 and there may be strips 8 of resilient material mounted in the wall grooves 7. Alternatively, there may be a threepiece insert of this material formed of three inwardly bowed portions and covering the three walls. The slats which overlap on closing the blind have their adjacent edges pivotally connected to draw tapes for operation and the sound damping means prevents direct contact between the slats on closure. This means may comprise slat stops mounted on one or more of the tapes or a flocculent material on the lower edges of the slats and/or on the surfaces of each slat therebelow. Each lower slat edge may have a curved flange, the means being a strip of sound damping material secured within each flange to extend outward. There may be eyes of damping material, one for each slot, on each draw tape, to pass through slot holes for pivotal connection.
