In a television wired-distribution system in which received radio television picture signals amplitude modulate a carrier wave which is then fed to the distributing network, the frequency of the carrier wave is made an odd multiple of the television picture frequency (i.e. the number of complete pictures scanned per second equals half the field frequency) in order to eliminate the visible effect of beating between the carrier wave and certain picture signals, such as those representing closely spaced vertical lines. In the embodiment the carrier frequency is 5406À225 kc/s. which is 216,249 times the picture frequency of 25 c/s.
