A door 4, Fig. 1, for a fluid-tight flameproof switch casing 1 and fitted by lateral translation has a pair of rigid side edge members 5, Fig. 3, overlapping the casing edge members 5a and attached to the lid 4 by shafts or bolts 6 which permit explosive deformation of the lid 4 without distortions of the edge members 5. Stainless steel joint inserts 8 may be arranged between the lid 4 and side members 5.
