Abstract

1,111,641. Transistor circuits. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON) Ltd. 18 Feb., 1965 [18 Nov., 1963], No. 45414/63. Heading H3T. An amplifier, for feeding the two-terminal deflection coil 29 of a cathode-ray tube, comprises a long-tailed pair of transistors 3, 4 coupled to a push-pull transistor output stage 25, 31, with negative, feedback taken to the long-tailed pair. The output from transistor 3 is preferably coupled via transistors 8, 14 to the bases of parallel pairs of complementary transistors 25, 26, 31, 32. Level-shifting and temperature compensating Zener and other diodes 19 . . . 24 are provided to bias the output transistors to Class B. Capacitor 12 reduces the loop gain to less than unity for signals having a phase shift approaching 180 degrees. Transistors 3, 4 are balanced by earthing terminal 1, then adjusting resistor 6 until the current in resistor 35 falls to zero.
