Abstract
1,110,968. Transistor blocking oscillators. C.A.V. Ltd. 23 Sept., 1965, No. 40538/65. Heading H3T. In a pulse generator, the primary winding 9 of a transformer 8 and the emitter-collector path of a transistor 12 are connected in series across a source of D.C. supply 1, 2, a secondary winding 10 is connected between the base of the transistor and a source of supply and is such as to provide feedback to speed up the switching on and off of the transistor, another secondary winding 11 is arranged to provide an output, and means are provided (Zener diode 14) for shorting out a portion of the primary winding whilst the flux in the coil is collapsing, whereby to control the magnitude of the collectoremitter voltage. A timing circuit 6, 7 for initiating conduction of the transistor includes an adjustable resistor 7 for altering the repetition frequency. Diode 13 is provided in the load circuit and so connected to conduct only when the flux is collapsing, thus preventing excessive current during the switching-on of transistor 12 and in the event of a shortcircuited load, which may be an electric fence.
