Abstract
Briquettes for use in a cupola or other furnace are formed by compacting steel turnings and similar material which have first been chipped; alloying additions such as carbon, silicon or molybdenum may also be incorporated, as may desulphurizing agents such as sodium carbonate or calcium carbide and binders such as lime or fluorspar.
