Abstract
1,110,487. Magnetic switches. BABCOCK & WILCOX CO. 22 July, 1966 [20 Aug., 1965], No. 33205/66. Heading HIN. A limit switch has a movable magnet 10 controlling sealed contact units 2, 12 encapsulated in a block 14 having terminals 16, 18, 20, 22 set in recesses with channels 36, 38, 40, 40 in which external connections are sealed by a compound such as silicone rubber cement. The magnet 10 is mounted on a lever 96 on a shaft 84 having at its other end a rocker 82 acted upon by a roller 80 in a spring-biased slider 88 forming a snap-action drive for the lever 96. The slider 88 moves in the end of a driver arm 56 on an actuating shaft 54 fitted to one end of a position sensing arm 58. Overtravel spring means (not shown) is incorporated in the hub of the arm 56. Trigger members 78, 104 hold the rocker 82 after the roller 80 has passed the dead-centre position until the arm 56 releases the trigger to allow the rocker 82 to snap-over to its other position and move the lever 96 with its magnet 10. The return spring 74 may be omitted and the switching capacity may be increased by Triac amplifiers which are also embedded in the block 14.
