[Also in Division B8] Livestock feeding apparatus comprises a trough 12 movable on guide rails 11 extending over an animal feeding station and receiving feed from a delivery source 3, a conveyer 17 being located within the trough and moving feed to a discharge outlet as the trough moves along the rails. As shown the conveyer 17 comprises a pair of endless chains 18 between which are secured cleats 22, a link or section of each chain having secured thereto a lug 24 which is mounted on a fixed post 25 upstanding from the feed bunk. A drive is taken from motor 26 to sprockets 19 to move the chains over the base 14 of the trough 12 and advance the trough along the rails, the chains moving the feed towards one or other of the open ends of the trough. Switches 36 are provided at the limits of travel of the trough and are contacted by brackets 15 supporting the trough to reverse motor 26 and therefore the direction of travel of the trough. Feed is continuously supplied to the trough through an overhead casing 4 housing an auger 5. Adjustable shoots 37 are located at the trough ends. In a modification the conveyer located within the trough is an auger driven by a motor which also serves to drive a pulley system connected to the trough and over which a cable extending the length of movement of the trough is reared. In a further modification an auger extends along the length of the path of travel of the trough and is stationary with respect to the feed bunk 8, the trough reciprocating along the auger.
