Abstract
1,109,851. Reshaping cushion packs. HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT, MASCHINENFABRIK PHONIX G.m.b.H. 28 May, 1965 [12 June, 1964], No. 22873/65. Heading B8C. Cushion-shaped packages are reshaped to parallelepipedic form by members 1 (Fig. 1) carried by an endless chain and by polygonalshaped rollers 8 mounted on spring-biased arms 12 and formed with bevel portions 20 (Fig. 4) engaging the ears formed at the corners. A second chain (5) (Fig. 3, not shown) may engage portions (6) of the members 1 to assist in locating them, and pressure may be applied to the packages by spring-biased platforms 4. In the form shown, the members 1 are Z-shaped so that they also confine the middle parts of the side faces of the packages. The rollers 8 are driven by engagement with the chain. The ears 20 are subsequently guided into the planes of the end faces by members 14 (Fig. 1) and are then welded by members (16), Fig. 2, (not shown), on endless chains (15). Members (13) guide the packages into the apparatus. A second line of packages may be reshaped in the ascending run of the conveyor of Fig. 1.
