Abstract

1,109,297. Moulding polystyrene. WATCHWELL Ltd. 15 June, 1965, No. 25164/65. Addition to 980,808. Heading B5A. The method of producing polystyrene articles by the steam expansion in die cavities of sheets of extruded polystyrene veneer as disclosed in Specifications 980,808 and 1,052,143 is modified by subjecting the extruded veneer to contact with boiling water prior to and/or after expansion by steam in the die cavity. The veneer may be fed to the die cavity in blanks of sheet form or continuously or intermittently in sheet form from an extruder or from a roll supply. Opposed pairs of complementary dies on conveyers may be used.
