Abstract

[Also in Division A4] A floating structure comprises a plurality of similar, rectangular, hollow, inflated bodies each formed at its opposite ends and sides with complementary coupling means 4, 5 by means of which the hollow bodies may be interconnected. The coupling means comprises a first part in the form of a plate (9) secured to the body wall and formed with a U-shaped slot 10 with an enlarged aperture 11 at one end, and a complementary part 5 comprising a neck 14 carrying a disc 13. To couple two hollow bodies the disc 13 is passed through the aperture 11, whereafter the neck 14 is moved along the slot 10 to its narrow end to be retained by a slider 16, 17. In one embodiment (Fig. 2), the bodiesare assembled to form a mattress provided with a wedge-shaped pillow (19) and a sail (20). In another embodiment (Fig. 4), a row of hollow bodies coupled at their longer sides form a floating mattress, the central bodies being inflated to a lesser degree to be immersed. In a further embodiment (Fig. 3) hollow bodies are coupled end to end by ropes (21) carrying coupling discs 13 to form a floating train. Holding loops (6) are provided around the side walls.
