Abstract

1,106,324. Typewriters. A. BAGGENSTOS. 28 Sept., 1966 [28 Sept., 1965], No. 43466/66. Heading B6F. Machines for typing on stiff sheets, books &c.- A slide (15a), 15b, 16a, 16b carrying the stiff document vertically moves in a guide frame 13 attached to a carriage 11, 12 transversely movable on a support 3 which is pivotal with respect to the main typewriter at 6. Adjustments for impression, varying number of sheets.-The pivotal movement of the support 3 together with carriage, frame and document holding slide permits adjustment of the slide relative to the type levers 2a so that impression impact is correct for documents of different thicknesses. Pivoting is controlled by a knob 45, cam 49 follower or cam sensor 50 and a rail 4 biased by a leaf spring 52. Special holders.-The document 36, Fig. 4 (not shown), is .spring held in between two angle strips 23, 24 attached to the lower rail 16b of the document slide. On the outside of the angle 24 an elongated plate 32 is attached by a screw (34) and has, projecting through apertures in the angle 24, points 35 which grip and hold the document 36. Line-spacing.-The slide is line-spaced by pinions 17 engaging a rack formed in the slide. A spring-urged detent 54, fig. 5, locates the line-spaces accurately. Document guides.-A plate 39 extends across the guide frame 13, Fig. 2 (not shown), and carries a spring-urged bar 41 which holds the document close to the typewriter platen 19. The plate 39 also carries side guides 40.
