Abstract

A phenolic derivative of a copolymer containing 20-80 mol per cent of isoprene, the derivative being cyclized and containing 5 to 50% by weight of a bound phenol, is prepared by reacting the phenol with the copolymer at a temperature between 70 DEG C. and 250 DEG C. in the presence of an acidic agent. The preferred copolymer is a copolymer of butadiene and isoprene and is reacted with phenol.
