Abstract
Crystalline NH4NO3 particles, e.g. prills, pellets or granules are stabilized by an admixture of boric acid (or alkali metal borate or ammonium borate) preferably less than 2.5% by weight, which eliminates the II-IV crystal transition. Sulphate and phosphate have a synergistic effect and small amounts of borate + sulphate + phosphate eliminate II-III, II-IV and III-IV crystal transitions. The composition may be produced by crystallization from a liquid, e.g. molten, mixture.
