Abstract

1,104,991. Endless conveyers; silo top unloaders. KNEE AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY Ltd. 8 June, 1966 [9 March, 1965], No. 9926/65. Headings B8A and B8E. A circular silo is unloaded from above by scraper conveyers 18, 19 suspended from its top so as to be lowerable by ropes 17. The conveyers are driven by a main shaft 20 rotated by an electric motor 55 the conveyer 18 being fixed against rotation in the silo by a plate 39 forced by spring-urged rods 37, 40 into engagement with the silo wall 3 while the conveyer 19 is provided with a heavy driven wheel resting on the silo contents and also driven by the shaft 20. The shaft is supported in a main bearing cage 21 and the conveyers are supported therefrom by stays 27, 28, 33, 34. In operation, the conveyers are lowered in the silo by the ropes 17 until the conveyer 18 contacts the contents when it digs a trough therein conveying the material to a discharge shaft internal or external of the wall 3 until the traction wheel on the conveyer 19 contacts the contents and starts its rotation about the shaft 20 causing the material to be swept towards the silo centre for discharge by the fixed conveyer 18.
