Abstract

1,103,935. Displacement vessel and aircushion vehicles. BRITISH HOVERCRAFT CORPORATION Ltd. 12 Sept., 1966 [24 Sept., 1965], No. 40884/65. Headings B7A and B7K An air-cushion vehicle carrier comprises a watercraft 1 having two hulls 2 joined above the water line 11 by a structure 13 has a deck surrounded by side walls 7, front wall 8 and a pivoted stern wall 8 to form a dock 3 for accommodating air-cushion vehicle(s) 5. Fig. 3 shows an air-cushion vehicle 5 attached to a winch 10 travelling along a track 12 to return the vehicle to the dock. The tunnel formed between the hulls 2, .the underside of the structure 13 and the surface of the water 11 may be obturated at the front and rear and the space thus formed filled with pressurized gas to reduce the draught of the craft.
