Abstract

[Also in Division F4] A converter vessel 1 comprises two coaxial trunnions 3, 4 which are rigidly connected to the converter 1 and are associated with a strengthening band 2, the trunnion 3 running in a stationary thrust bearing 5 and beng actuated by a tilting mechanism 6, the trunnion 4 running in a swivelling anti-friction bearing comprising an inner race 7, an outer race 8 having a spherical raceway 9, and rollers 10, 11. The outer race 8 is secured in a bifurcated support whose feet are pivotally mounted to enable the support to move laterally of the converter.
