1,103,908. Double layer sintered product. SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO. Ltd. 24 Sept., 1965 [29 Sept., 1964; 10 Dec., 1964], No. 40874/65. Heading B5A. A double-layer sintered product, consisting of (i) polyethylene and (ii) either polypropylene or an ethylene/propylene copolymer is produced by charging a metal mould with powder or granules of either (i) or (ii), heating to form a sintered layer and melting to form a smooth surface, i.e. removing voids between particles, adding powder or granules of the other of (i) or (ii), heating to form a sintered layer thereof, cooling at a controlled speed so as to promote uniform crystal growth at the interface and removing the product from the mould. The production of buckets, cups, &c. by rotational casting is exemplified.
