Abstract

1,102,883. Photographic image transfer material. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Jan. 20, 1965 [Jan. 20, 1964], No. 46115/67. Divided out of 1,102,881. Heading G2A. A photographic image transfer material which comprises (a) a light-sensitive material comprising a support bearing a silver halide emulsion layer which has an area which is imagewise exposed, and (b) an image-receiving sheet which is in face-to-face contact with the silver halide emulsion, there being a seal between the emulsion and the sheet which (i) completely encircles the unbonded image area and contains a weak section which ruptures first, (ii) surrounds the image area on three sides or (iii) is in two parts extending along opposite edges of the transfer material, either the emulsion or the image-receiving material being translucent and flexible. As shown in Fig. 1, a transparent silver halide emulsion layer is marginally bonded to an imagereceptor sheet 3. There is a weaker transverse bond 8 which forms a trap 10 for used processing fluid which is absorbed by porous material 14. A porous pad 18 of loosely woven fibres is provided on the opposite side image area and the processing liquid is injected with a syringe into pad 18. The bond 8 may be replaced by a clamp (not shown). As shown in Fig. 8, the transparent silver halide emulsion 50 and image-receiving layer 45 are laminated on one side to liquidimpermeable sheets 43 and 48 by bonds 44 and 49 and the other side to two further liquidimpermeable sheets 47 and 52 by bonds 46 and 51. The first pair of sheets are sealed round their edges by bonds 38 and weaker bond 33 to form a pressure-rupturable container which is filled with processing fluid. The second pair of sheets are sealed round their edges by bonds 40 and weaker bond 42. The materials may be used in the transfer process of Specification 1,102, 881 and in the camera of Specification 1, 102, 882.
