Abstract

1,102,419. Electro-photographic and photographic exposure, optical apparatus &c. RANK XEROX Ltd. Aug.26, 1965 [Sept.1, 1964], No.36691/65. Headings G2A, G2H and G2J. Light-images of alphanumeric characters are formed line by line on a xerographic drum 10 or other photo-sensitive surface by a transparent plate 16 e. g. of glass, such that light-rays are reflected internally of the plate. Edge surfaces 42, 44, Fig. 2 (not shown) are silvered to reflect the rays in the path shown towards drum 10. A flying spot cathode ray tube 12 is fed with signals by input 20. An opaque plate 14 has an array of transparent alphanumeric characters to form the light-images selectively with the cathode ray tube 12. Latent electrostatic images on the drum 10 are cascade developed and the developed image is transferred to a web 28.
