Abstract
1,101,911. Embossing; embossing-surfaces. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 July, 1965 [21 July, 1964], No. 29433/64. Headings B6C and B6J. An embossing.band is formed from a sheet of polyethylene or silicone treated paper by passing after heating between an embossing roller and a rubber pressure roller. The band is then coated with a slow-curing, tacky, plastic composition such as polyurethane in methyl ethyl ketone, and passed through a warm air oven to evaporate most of the solvent. The band and partly-cured coating are then rolled up together for storing during curing, after which the patterned coating is removed from -the band. Both faces of the embossing or release band must possess release properties. A non- woven, fibrous sheet material may be coated with the same composition and partially cured, the band and its coating unwound, and the two coating layers brought together by passing between rollers, the resulting compound sheets being wound up until completely cured, when the compound coating is removed from the band.
