[Also in Division D1] A machine for impregnating stator and other windings with varnish &c., includes an infrared detector 39 directed at the windings, which controls the winding supply to maintain the temperature constant. The machine may be controlled by a programme device 40 to provide pre-heating, impregnating and baking periods which may require different temperatures set by controls 41-43, also to determine the amount of varnish sprayed on to the windings. The arrangement may be also used to salvage old stators by deteriorating the old varnish by high temperature.
