Abstract

1,100,277. Centrifugal pumps. SIEMEN & HINSCH m.b.H. June 30, 1965 [July 1, 1964], No.27673/65. Heading F1C. In a multi-stage pump in which the first stage has a full admission centrifugal impeller 4 and the subsequent stage or stages 10, 11 are of the part-admission side channel type, the radial outer boundary of the or each side channel is formed by the inner surface of the associated casing wall and the impeller 4 is smaller in diameter than impellers 5. Thus the circular or volute chamber 13 can be accommodated in an outer casing which is not greater than that of the outer casing of the side channel stages. The pump may be a glandless unit driven by a gap tube motor or a gap tube magnetic drive.
