Abstract

1,098,898. Refrigerators. CLARK EQUIPMENT CO. July 13, 1966 [July 16, 1965], No. 31435/66. Heading F4H. In a refrigerated display case comprising a drain 48 and a fan 33 for supplying cold air through ducts 35 and 24 to a display space 28, the cross-section of duct 35 is substantially reduced at 52 adjacent the drain so that iceaccumulations consequent on blockage of the drain rapidly prevent the passage of air through opening 52 and cause the temperature of space 28 to rise. A device 53 may be provided to give warning of such rise in temperature. Fan 33 also supplies air to a rear duct 21 having an outlet grill 23 disposed above a shelf 37, return ducting for such air being provided by the hollow port wall 38 of the shelf and by a partition 39 beneath the shelf. Air from this ducting and from space 28 is drawn over an evaporator 31 by fan 33, the evaporator being provided with defrost heaters 42 and being arranged above an apertured plate 19. Heaters 44 are provided to prevent blockage of the apertures.
