Abstract
An insecticidal coating composition for use on fibrous packaging material comprises an insecticide dissolved or dispersed in a copolymer of styrene (with/without another monomer) and a dibasic unsaturated aliphatic acid halfester. The insecticide may be pyrethrum, neopynamin, allethrin, any other pyrethoinoid insecticide (with/without a synergist such as piperonyl butoxide, sulphoxide or safroxan), malathion, vapona, sevin, bromophos or sumithion. In examples the half-esters used in the copolymers are the butyl, nonanol and ethyl half-esters of maleic or fumaric acids; a copolymer comprising methyl methacrylate also is exemplified. A peroxide, e.g. benzoyl crosslinking catalyst also may be present. The composition may also contain isopropyl alcohol and ethanol or dimethyl sulphoxide.ALSO:An insecticidal coating composition for use on fibrous packaging material such as paper or cardboard, comprises an insecticide dissolved or dispersed in a copolymer of styrene (with/without another monomer) and a dibasic unsaturated aliphatic acid half-ester.
