[Also in Division F4] A light fitting adapted to be embedded in a wall or ceiling comprises a housing 1 provided with frangible portions 2 to facilitate the formation of access holes for electric cables, a casing 5 adapted to hold one or more electric lamps and disposed wholly or partly in the housing, a transparent or translucent diffuser 19 which covers the casing and projects from the housing, and a cover-plate 21 having an opening 22 through which the diffuser projects. The casing may have brackets 9, 10 formed with elongated holes 17 to receive screws 18 securing it to the housing, and the cover-plate may have grooves 23 adapted to co-operate with ribs 24 on the brackets to hold the cover-plate in place. A collar 20 on the diffuser engages the rim of the casing and the edge of the opening 22 to retain the diffuser in position. In a modification the cover-plate is screwed to the easing. The electric lamps may be incandescent filament bulbs or tubes or fluorescent tubes, and may be divided from one another by screens in the casing or diffuser so that colour or signalling effects may be obtained.
