Abstract

1,098,492. Rotary scythe mowers. WOLFGERATE G.m.b.H. Feb. 5, 1965 [Feb. 7, 1964; Dec. 10, 1964], No. 5141/65. Heading A1F. A rotary-scythe mower comprises a cutter blade 2 mounted on a vertically adjustable driven shaft 3 and guide housing 7. The shaft which is hexagonal in crosssection is slidably journalled in a fixed bearing housing 4 and has slidably mounted thereon a belt pulley 5. Vertical adjustment is caused by engaging a pin 13 in one of a number of recesses (Fig. 2, not shown). The guide housing is mounted on a bearing 8, and is rotatable about the shaft so that the position of the outlet of the housing can be varied. A spring urged pin 15 is adapted to engage detents 15<SP>1</SP> to lock the guide housing in a selected position. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 4) the shaft and guide housing are mounted respectively on upper and lower slides sleeves 29<SP>1</SP>, 2911 which sleeves are joined by a pin 24. The lower sleeves carries rotatable damping bodies 16 one of which is fast on a crank shaft 17 so that rotation of the crank shaft causes rotation of the guide housing. The crank shaft has a slot therein so that it can be moved vertically downwards to engage an aperture in the guide housing to lock the housing in a selected position.
